Marlene Malahoo Forte

Senator the Hon. Marlene Malahoo Forte is the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affair and Foreign Trade, Jamaica, with special responsibility for Foreign Trade and Diaspora & Consular Affairs.

She is an Attorney at Law who has had an outstanding career as a Judge and Prosecutor. Her special capacity for critical, creative, entrepreneurial and strategic thinking is widely acknowledged. Regarded as a driving force for action and an effective catalyst for change within Jamaica and the wider Caribbean; committed to engagement in crucial social, economic and development issues.

Recognized and celebrated nationally and internationally: honoured as a Young Global Leader 2010, a Veuve Clicquot Woman of Excellence, Bigga High Achiever and Yale World Fellow. She is particularly passionate about women’s rights; has in-depth knowledge and demonstrated understanding of gender equality issues. Her keen pursuit of those elements of trade and development policy that can foster empowerment of women has made her a highly sought-after speaker on the international circuit.
